Social networking to help you
find tenders
Small firms looking for
tender opportunities can now pitch for public and private sector contracts
online, following the launch of the British Chambers of Commerce's (BCC) social
networking website.
The Business Network Online (BNO) enables registered users to search and
pitch for new tenders in their relevant industry sectors, and will alert firms
to new opportunities by email or text message.
The BNO also operates as a social networking site, run through the Chambers
network. Users can meet other businesses, suppliers and potential customers
online, allowing them to build up their contacts. The website is free to
Chambers members, while non-members can sign up for a free three month
trial.
"All businesses are looking for new ways to drive sales during these
difficult economic times and we believe this tool will help in many ways," said
BCC managing director, John Dunsmore.
"Unlike some professional networking sites, the BNO isn't about collecting
'colleagues' that have no relevance to your business," he added. "Here, each
contact you make has a realistic prospect of having a positive impact on your
business."
Emma Jones, founder of home business portal Enterprise Nation, said the
site was a positive new channel for small firms wanting to grow their business.
"Going online is now the best way for many small-business owners to meet other
similar minded people, forge great contacts and source new opportunities," she
said.
Initially, the site will operate across the UK but the BCC said it had
plans to expand the network internationally.
